Our feet do a lot of work.

In fact, we spend up to 80% of waking hours on our feet and our feet absorb over 2,265,000kg of accumulated pressure daily!

From walking to standing for long periods of time or even exercising - it’s no wonder our feet get sore and tired from time to time.

Luckily, there are ways to rejuvenate your feet from the comfort of your own home.

Here are 5 things you can do at home to relieve discomfort from sore feet.

1. Apply Ice

Soreness is often caused by inflammation.

To ease some pain, you can apply ice which will reduce that inflammation.

Simply, fill a plastic bag with ice and apply to your feet - around 10 - 15 minutes.

Repeat for a few times a day and you’ll soon see a difference!

2. Wear Different Shoes

The discomfort from your shoes could be the reason behind your sore feet.

Factors like, the wrong style or size or wearing shoes that have expired their life span.

At the end of the day, we spend a lot of time on our feet.

So, it’s so important our shoes are well-fitted to help relieve discomfort.

Consider investing in new shoes with proper arches to support your feet and wear the correct style depending on what you’re engaging in - i.e. don’t wear brogues when playing tennis!

4. Stretch Your Feet

It’s vital we keep our feet flexible so they are nice and strong to keep carrying us every day.

Thankfully, walking in itself is a great exercise to keep feet healthy.

However, to strengthen them further we can stretch them.

For instance, pick marbles up with your toes or try an achilles stretch using a wall.

So long as it’s adding resistance, it will be stretching and strengthening your feet.

5. Epsom Foot Soak

Epsom salts have become an increasingly popular remedy for muscle aches and pains.

It’s believed, the magnesium in Epsom salt is absorbed by the foot which relieves discomfort.

Simply, fill a basin with warm water and add ½ a cup of Epsom salt - then soak your feet for 20 - 30 minutes.

Doing so, your feet should feel relaxed and energised!

6. Foot Massage

If you don’t have someone to massage your feet, don’t worry it’s easy - you can do it yourself!

Massaging your feet will improve circulation and help with soreness.

Simply, sit yourself down in your comfortable chair and knead the bottoms of your feet; don’t neglect your toes - give them a good bend too!

You can also use an oil or lotion to make the massage easier - essential oils are also known to relax tired feet.

Finishing Thoughts

Ultimately, it’s important that we look after our feet because they help us get to everywhere we need to go - and, every step counts!

If your feet are feeling tired and sore, use a combination of these home remedies and start giving your feet a new walk of life!
