Tags - Treat Verrucas At Home
Verrucas are warts on the soles of your feet.
Most of the time, they can appear out of nowhere.
And often, they are very painful, embarrassing and just annoying.
Which begs the question.
How can you treat these at home?
You may have already looked online and found some crazy ideas.
Don’t worry, we’ve done the research for you.
Here are the top 3 ways to get your feet verruca free!
1. Over The Counter Treatments
For effective over the counter treatments, you’ll want to ensure the product contains salicylic acid.
Essentially, salicylic acid will burn off the top layer of the verruca; shedding the skin little by little until the verruca has cleared up.
Simply, follow the instructions as provided - usually ointments will work better if you soak your foot first, apply the product and then cover with tape.
To see results, it can take anywhere between a week and up to three months
2. Sandpaper and Duct Tape
So, you’re probably thinking, how on earth do hardware supplies help to get rid of your verruca?!
Well, according to Dermatologist, Dr Piliang, a combination of duct tape and sandpaper goes a long way in removing verrucas.
Simply, keep the verruca duct taped 24 hours a day, changing the tape when it falls off.
Then, once the verruca has softened, you can gently rub away the outer layer with sandpaper.
Finally, reapply the duct tape and repeat this process until the verruca has been removed entirely.
3. Kitchen Staples
I mean, is it really a home remedy if you don’t use something from your kitchen cupboard?
There are some ingredients from your kitchen you can use to treat verrucas.
- Apple Cider Vinegar has similar effects to salicylic acid due to its natural antimicrobial properties.
To try this, simply soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and tape it over the verruca overnight - as it begins to soften, file the outer layer using an emery board or sandpaper.
- Banana Peels - due to their high levels of potassium.
Follow the same process as above, but with a banana peel instead and repeat daily.
- Garlic has a long history in treating skin conditions and can be used for infections such as verrucas.
The main component in garlic is allicin, which is said to have antibacterial effects.
To try this method, crush up a garlic close then apply to the verruca and bandage for 20 minutes before rinsing with water - do this twice daily.
Overall, verrucas occur naturally and more often than not, will eventually disappear on their own.
Although uncomfortable, they are nothing to worry about and can be treated at home using any of the above methods.
