When it comes to autumn and winter, there is always that one hardest-working item in our wardrobes: Chelsea boots.

Dating back to the Victorian era, Chelsea boots traditionally featured flat soles, rounded toes and sat just above the ankles; if Queen Victoria could wear them, then they’re definitely a worthy item to have.

Today, there is a whole range of styles out there and there are almost way too many options to choose from.

But one thing’s for sure: they’re extremely comfortable, look modern, classy and elegant all at the same time.

From pointed-toes and tall lengths to chunky treads and wooden heels, these boots have become a statement in every woman’s life - you probably already own a pair.

So, I’m not going to bombard you with all the different style options for you to go shopping; there’s a look out there for everyone.

But instead, here are a few style tips on how to look and feel fabulous when wearing them!

Casual Outfits

Chelsea boots are known for being versatile and can easily compliment casual looks, be it edgy and street-ready to boho and chic vibes.

Let’s start off with jeans. Jeans are perfect for any occasion and you can confidently pair these with your favourite pair of Chelsea boots.

To complete your look, add a turtleneck or a simple knitted jumper, and if it’s too cold outside, you can wear your coat over the top - effortless, yet stunning!

It’s worth noting here that you don't have to wear jeans that are too long, but skinny jeans that sit just above your ankles will be perfect, or you can cuff the ones you have.

Let’s say you want a more vintage feel, flat Chelsea boots in brown lend themselves perfectly to boho dresses; here you’ll want to go for paisley prints and a dress that falls no longer than past your knees to really show off your boots.

Smart Casual Outfits

When it comes to smart casual, nailing this dress code can feel a little scary - what does it even mean?

The important thing to remember is, as long as you’re not in sweats or leggings, pretty much anything you wear can be smart casual.

Take all black outfits for example; black screams smart. Don’t let anyone tell you wearing all black is boring or inspires sadness, the key is in the detailing and you can look super sleek.

If you’re going for a few drinks with your friends, take a pair of faux leather trousers, black knitted top and a long black wrap coat, then finish with your black Chelsea boots and finish off with a bag - add either silver or gold jewelry, whichever you prefer.

If you’re not into trousers, Chelsea boots look great with midi skirts, and makes the perfect pairing for situations that require you to dress up a little more.

Simply take a neutral coloured skirt, perhaps beige, and wear any colour top that you feel comfortable in with a leather jacket. Then finish it off with some patent chelsea boots for a super modern look.

If you want to take it up a notch, for instance if you have a work event, take a pair of black leather Chelsea boots, a turtleneck and smart trousers; if you want to add some colour, finish your look with a plaid blazer or tweed coat.

Or, you can wear a pencil skirt and a long trench coat which shouts elegance and looks timeless; try deep, dark red boots, a black skirt and white shirt and finish with a tan-coloured trench coat.

Final Thoughts

A lot of these looks I’ve mentioned are very suited towards the colder months, but there’s nothing stopping you from wearing Chelsea boots in the summer too.

As mentioned earlier, these shoes are extremely versatile, so there’s hardly any chance for you to look silly.

The best thing about style is, it all falls down to personal preference, so always wear what you feel comfortable in; if you feel good, that’s all that matters!
